Superstition, Religion, and Wisdom: Moving from Fear to Knowledge
The think tank ALEF, through its discussion forum “Carrefour des sagesses,” (Crossroad of Wisdom) convened around the Chief Rabbi of Africa (Pinhas Eliyahou SHADAY) and several speakers to address a theme that may appear marginal, yet is central to social cohesion: superstition.
Starting from a deliberately broad definition—one is superstitious when one acts without understanding the causal logic of one’s action—superstition ceases to be a marginal phenomenon and becomes a lens through which to interpret both individual and collective behavior.
